Dr Frank Long

Billiards Career

Dr Frank Long passed away on the weekend of 21/22 March 2020.
He played billiards for many years and was over 90.
I have no record of his achievements before 1959-1960, but I think there may well have been more than a few as he would have been over 30 by that time.
He received coaching from the famous Riso Levi on at least 2 occasions in 1946, when he would have been around 16 or 17.
His daughters gave me Frank's old trophies to recycle and I took the opportunity to record his achievements in the table below.
The trophies will be presented to youngsters who play snooker and billiards by Brian Gresty.
If anyone can help me to fill in any blanks, such as his team in the Wrexham League or the year Chester won the Joe Bird, I'd be most grateful
Talking to people who knew him longer than I did, the consensus is that he was a fierce competitor on the table but a true gentleman off it. That is how I found him and I am proud to have been able to make this small memorial to his memory.
